Lake Templene Homes For Sale
Lake Templene is a 900-acre all-sports lake southeast of Centreville, 15 minutes north of Sturgis, about an hour from Notre Dame, and 2.5 hours from Chicago and Detroit. The lake was created in the early 1970s by Floyd Templin and associates with a concrete-and-steel dam. From the beginning, it has offered excellent bluegill fishing, and it is one of the leading bass fishing lakes in the area. A boat launch is on the northwest end of the lake. Home prices range from XX to YY.
The Island Hills Golf Club on the western end of the lake, designed by Ray Hearn, opened in 1999. The club’s popular Grille Tavern Grille, a pub with outdoor seating that overlooks the 18th hole, offers burgers, steaks, seafood, and chicken and specializes in handcrafted pizza. It is accessible by car or boat. The Nottawa Fruit Farm and Yoder’s Country market north of the lake offer fresh produce in season. Other eateries and shops are nearby in Sturgis.
Amish Country surrounds Lake Templene, and Shipshewana, with its famous flea market, crafts, stores, and restaurants, is less than a half-hour away. More shopping, dining, and entertainment venues are about an hour away in Elkhart, Mishawaka, and South Bend.
The Lake Templene Property Owners Association (laketemplene.org) cares for the lake, the roads, and the common property; enforces the covenants to ensure consistent quality; and sponsors events for people on the lake, including an annual fireworks display.
Lake Templene is a perfect place for living the lake life in your home or your home away from home.
