Southwest Michigan is a delight during the winter months. With its open space and picturesque landscapes, there is never a dull winter in this part of Michigan. From Beer Festivals to Ice Sculptures and Frozen Fish Flinging, there are always festivals in Southwest Michigan! 

Here’s a list of the best Winter Festivals in Southwest Michigan to warm up your winter.

St. Joe Winter Beer Fest

Novice or expert craft beer enthusiasts will be excited to attend the St. Joe Winter Beer Festival on January 29th, 2022. The beer fest will be in Downtown St. Joseph, and the admission fee is $40 per drinker

Enjoy a sampling of SW Michigan’s favorite local and regional craft beers. There’s always something new to sample, and you may find your next favorite beer in St. Joseph! This event is right around the corner, so get your tickets!

2022 Magical Ice Fest

Also happening in Downtown St. Joseph from February 4th through the 6th is the 2022 Magical Ice Fest with ice carving competitions, and exhibits. It’s a weekend of fun and frosty twists for kids and adults alike. This event attracts visitors to downtown St. Joseph from all over the region. 

Ice Breaker Event

The Ice Breaker Event is from February 4th through the 6th in South Haven, Michigan. The highlight of the event is the Chili Cook-Off and Ice Sculpture competition. 

Other events include Cardboard Sled Race, Ice Skating and Frozen Fish Fling. The Frozen Fish Fling! Does that sound fun or what!?

Southwest Michigan Horticulture Days

The Southwest Michigan Horticulture Days is February 2nd and 3rd at the Mendel Center in Benton Harbor. Hosted by the Michigan Grape Society and Michigan State University Extension, this year’s event will feature sessions on tree fruit, vegetables, blueberries, grapes, and new for 2022, enology, and marketing.  

Tickets are $75 at the door. The event runs from 8 to 4:30 pm on Wednesday the 2nd and 8 to 3 pm on Thursday the 3rd. There are some Covid restrictions, so click here for more info on this event.

These wintertime festivals are great to get folks out and about and illustrate the fun culture of Southwest Michigan. Southwest Michigan is wonderful place to live or have a second home.
