In the early 20th century, a handful of farms surrounded the lake. Homes were built on the water starting in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Large lots mean houses are spaced at a comfortable distance among mature trees on the wooded land for increased privacy and space to play. Many younger families have recently bought homes on the lake, often to renovate and expand. An active Pleasant Lake Association organizes social activities for children, adults, and families and ensures high water quality in the lake. The lake is up to 55 feet deep with an average depth of about 20 feet. Fishing is excellent for walleye, perch, sucker, pumpkinseed sunfish, largemouth bass, bream/bluegill, and crappie. Skiing and similar activities are not allowed between 6:30 p.m. and 10 a.m., leaving hours for peaceful fishing and pontooning.
